The mission uses Arma 2's Use Action bindings for several Warfare-specific quality-of-life features. Set them once, then they become part of how you command, build, and tune performance during a round.
Where to bind them
Open Options -> Controls -> Custom controls.
Bind the actions you actually use to keys you can hit quickly. If a default key is awkward or conflicts with normal play, rebind it. Use Action 13 is especially worth rebinding from Insert if that key is inconvenient on your keyboard.
Commander building actions
- Use Action 14 - toggle automatic walls when a factory builds.
- Use Action 15 - reselect the last object you placed, such as a wall, static weapon, or base object.
- Use Action 16 - toggle automatic manning of defences. This is useful when buying static artillery like D-30 or M119, but remember that firing artillery from your base can reveal it.
- Use Action 17 - delete the base object you are aiming at in commander view. This is mainly for walls and statics, and is essential before moving a walled-in HQ.
AI waypoint action
- Use Action 13 - toggle sending newly spawned units automatically to your current player waypoint.
To use it well, shift-click the map where you want the units to go, then toggle the action. This is useful for getting fresh AI moving toward a town, front line, or defensive position without manually selecting every new unit.
Automatic view-distance tuner
- Use Action 18 - turn automatic view-distance tuning on or off.
When the tuner is on:
- Use Action 19 - decrease target FPS.
- Use Action 20 - increase target FPS.
The default target is 60 FPS. The current mission stores the changed target in your profile namespace, but you still need to turn the tuner on again when joining a new session.
When the tuner is off:
- Use Action 19 - decrease view distance.
- Use Action 20 - increase view distance.
This is useful when you want direct manual control instead of target-FPS control.
WF menu display toggles
Some useful quality-of-life controls are in the WF menu rather than Windows or driver settings.
- RHUD toggle - turns the full Warfare HUD on or off.
- FPS-only HUD toggle - keeps a lightweight FPS display without the full RHUD.
- GPS zoom controls - adjust the small GPS/map zoom level when you need a clearer local view.
Use these when you want less screen noise, a quick FPS readout, or a more useful GPS scale during travel and base work. They are mission UI helpers, not a replacement for the video settings in Performance & FPS.
Practical setup
For commanders, bind at least 14, 15, 16, and 17. For performance tuning, bind 18, 19, and 20. If you often lead AI, bind 13 too.
The shortcuts are not just convenience. Fast walling, fast cleanup, and clean AI routing make the commander role much less clumsy under pressure.
When to use them in a round
- Opening base: use Action 15 while walling so you do not keep reopening the construction menu.
- Before moving HQ: use Action 17 to clear HQ walls quickly, then mobilize.
- Buying static artillery: use Action 16 deliberately. Automatic manning is useful, but careless cannon fire can reveal the base.
- Fresh AI after a factory build: shift-click a waypoint, then use Action 13 so new units start moving without more micromanagement.
- Bad FPS in towns: use Action 18, then tune target FPS with Actions 19/20 instead of opening menus during combat.
Common mistakes
- Binding actions and then forgetting which key is which. Write down your own key layout once.
- Leaving the view-distance tuner off after reconnecting. Turn it on each session.
- Deleting the wrong object with Action 17. Aim carefully, especially around statics and walls.
- Using automatic walls without leaving an entrance to production buildings. Factories with spawns must remain accessible on foot.
